LG E900 gets a blurry hi-res picture
August 26th, 2010

Another unannounced phone by LG has appeared in the web, leaked from Microsoft itself. The LG E900 – also dubbed LG Optimus 7 – will run Windows Phone 7 and probably will be headed to Europe (look for the Vodafone brand and 360 services on the screen). Also the name suggests that Optimus line-up won’t be restricted to Android OS, as it is today.
The LG E900 Optimus 7 probably will hit the market in November, after the Windows Phone 7 launch, due to late October.

Windows Phone 7 ported to HTC HD2
March 29th, 2010
Despite Microsoft announced that HTC HD2 won’t be upgradeable to Windows Phone 7, it didn’t stop adventurous hackers to try to port the new operating system from Microsoft over the HD2. Tom Codon – that’s the name of the mighty hacker – posted some photos and videos as a proof of accomplishment and while most of the features like GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are working, lag seems to be an issue because of the graphics driver, but it seems it won’t be a problem when the first beta is out, said to be coming soon. More photos and videos after the break.

Samsung OMNIA HD hacked to run Windows Phone 7
March 17th, 2010
While Microsoft was introducing Windows Phone 7 at MIX10 conference, a mysterious device has passed around, and everyone got the feeling it was a Samsung i8910 . Now Samsung confirms this feeling saying this was indeed a hacked i8910 running Windows Phone 7, even with the phone specs not matching the OS’s hardware requirements (The Samsung Omnia HD sports 640 x 360 resolution while WP7S requires 800 x 480 and a processor that falls short of the required 1GHz)

Microsoft shows off XNA games on Windows Phone: Awesome
March 10th, 2010
A bunch of photos appeared on the net showing off 3D games running on the upcoming Windows Phone 7 using the Asus prototype Microsoft showed at MWC. These games are built with its new XNA Game Studio 4.0, a game development platform with many technologies seen before in Windows desktop version like Direct3D. The game shown in the first picture is The Harvest, a touch-controlled dungeon crawler developed by Luma Arcade. Of course these pictures are meant to show what Windows Phone will be capable of in terms of 3D gaming, but they refused anyone to grab a picture or video of the process.

Windows Mobile still strong in Latin America…really?
March 9th, 2010
Windows Mobile has a downward path lately, with WM 6.5 surprising no one, and many people considering it dead. But it looks like the OS is gaining market share in Latin America according to Doug Smith, Microsoft’s Latin American director of mobile communications, while talking about the upcoming launch of Windows Phone 7 Series OS in the region. According to Business News Americas, Windows Mobile’s smartphone market share is 26% in Brazil and 24% in Mexico, surprisingly leaving a huge amount of Latin American users out of the equation. True, Brazil and Mexico have 250 million mobile subscribers, but only in Argentina, for example, there are 45 million phone users, where Windows Mobile is practically extinct and replaced by BlackBerry and Nokia handsets in most cases, which means Latin America is not well represented in this market share study.

March 6th, 2010
While details of Windows Phone 7 OS still are scarce, a new video from Microsoft throws some light about it showing some screens from various apps and apps like flashlight and weather supposedly showing how easy they are to develop thanks to XNA and Silverlight. Still we will have to wait for the first Windows Phone 7 smartphones to see this new OS from Microsoft in real action because of Microsoft has officially stated that smartphones like HTC HD2 running Windows Mobile 6.5 won’t be upgradeable since both platforms are incompatible. Watch the video after the break.
