Official Twitter Client for BlackBerry released in public beta

April 9th, 2010

The Official Twitter Client for BlackBerry smartphones has been released to users in form of public beta, after a couple of months in private, closed-doors testing. The app got some improvements during these two months, including notification support for DMs, replies and mentions, ability to create and manage lists, profile editing and improved performance. Although RIM has made it very clear this Official Twitter Client is still a beta and might have bugs, it’s a free download for a useful app.

Gmail for mobile now integrates with Google Buzz

April 7th, 2010

Google updated its Gmail for mobile web app to include Google Buzz just like the desktop version does. Android and iPhone users can now post a buzz, check out comments, or just compose and email to a friend simply accessing Google Buzz from a little icon in Gmail inbox. The new Gmail experience with Google Buzz is now available to iPhone and Android users only – no word about other platforms like BlackBerry or Windows Mobile, but let’s hope Google keeps on developing new features in Gmail to all other platforms.

RIM BlackBerry Beta Zone: try apps for free

March 26th, 2010

RIM launched today BlackBerry Beta Zone, an area where you can test out beta versions of RIM apps, or even maintenance releases. The service is for free for Canada, US and UK residents and you can sign up, download stuff, test it and provide some feedback. This way you’ll have the chance to try new and upcoming apps before they get their way to the market, such as BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.1. Don’t expect bug-free or final apps, but if you like to toy with your BlackBerry a little, BlackBerry Beta Zone could be interesting.

Facebook for WebOS gets an update

March 4th, 2010

Palm just launched a new version of its WebOS Facebook app. The new 1.1.0 version covers some issues unresolved in the previous versions like improved access to inbox, photo albums, friend’s profiles, list view of birthdays and events and more. Also it addresses some bugs like ignoring preferences on status updates. Still, there’s some work to do as features like chat, video and ability to respond to friend requests are missing in the current release, but for now, it’s a better experience than browsing to the Facebook page in the Palm Pre.
