Nokia packs an smartphone into a feature phone with Nokia C5
March 2nd, 2010
Nokia just unveiled the Nokia C5, a new smartphone packed into a feature phone body according to their own words. The Nokia C5 in fact runs Symbian S60 3rd edition, has a 2.2” display, 3.2 megapixel camera, FM radio, 12 hours of talk time, GPS, Ovi Maps – with free navigation – microSD card slot, with a very modest price of about 135 euro, probably the cheapest smartphone around. The Nokia C5 will be available in the second half of 2010 in Europe, Eurasia, China and other locations.

Apart from the Nokia C5, Nokia introduced another naming convention, the Cseries, which will be focused in social integration between friends and family. Other series are Xseries, Nseries, Eseries, already known. The numbers on the series should also give an idea of the functionality and price point of each device, being 1 the lowest and 9 the highest. The Nokia C5 should then be on the middle in terms of functionality and price.
